I clicked on “Cancel” after trying to Open the document. How can I get the document back?
Solution: look in your “My Documents” folder for a file named “Document_(orderID)_(5 digit number)”. If the orderID matches the orderID in the email this is the correct file. You may try again to open the document. If the file is not found that probably means the file was not saved. You will need to download the document again. See ….for re-setting the download counter.
I opened the document to make sure I got the right article. Now I want to send it to someone else. Can I email the file to someone else?
Solution: We recommend that the file is only opened by the enduser of the document. It is sometimes possible to open the file more than once. However as soon as the maximum permitted views of the file has been reached the original file and all copies of it will no longer open. We can add one additional permitted view to the file if necessary for you to deliver this document to your enduser.
Why does this message mean: "The author of the document may have chosen to audit some of your interactions with it. If so, the author will be able to view tracked events"?
This message refers to the DRM control on the document. The "author" in this context is Reprints Desk, not the author of the article. Opening the PDF file is a "tracked event". You will only be able to open the file a limited number of times.
I tried to open the PDF file and received a message "The document you are attempting to open has been revoked by the author". What do I do next?
The PDF file may no longer be open because the maximum number of views has been exceeded. If you believe you are receiving this message in error, or if you would like to order additional downloads or views of the document, please contact us at 310-477-0354 or 877-444-4346, or customersupport@reprintsdesk.com.
I am a Mac user and get a blank document after I click on the Download Document link.
Clicking on “Download Document” will automatically save the PDF file to the user’s Desktop as Document_xxxxxx_xxxxx.pdf, a number incorporating the Order ID number in the File Name. From the Desktop, users can right click and select “Open With” Adobe Acrobat to open the PDF File. Or, from the File menu, click “Open With” and select Adobe Acrobat to open the file.
Why does Reprints Desk use Digital Rights Management (DRM) on some articles?
Some publishers or copyright clearance providers place legal restrictions on the use of articles. DRM provides a technical means of enforcing the legal restrictions. Reprints Desk utilizes DRM as required by some publishers and copyright clearance providers to limit the number of times a PDF document may be opened and printed.
